The remote and isolated corner in the western part of Nepal which is a geographical part of Tibetan plateau is known as Dolpa region. Most of this region was closed to trekkers until 1989. Dolpa region is divided as Lower and Upper Dolpa. Lower Dolpa is permitted with low permit fee but for the upper Dolpo you have to pay $50 per day for trekking permit. Lodges and guest houses are not available and you must arrange all camping accommodation. Dolpa is lying in shadow of Himalaya with astounding natural beauty and cultural heritage. People of Dolpa follow Bon religionand their language is closer to Tibetan. The most beautiful She-Phoksundo Lake is main attraction of this region and Num-la and Baga-la pass are another challenging attraction of the mountains.
Dolpa is only the district unconnected by land transport, we should take airplane to reach there and it is not regular because of remote and small airport. Road is under construction to connect its headquarter within some time.
